SNEAK PEEK: Miley Cyrus Opens Up in PEOPLE's Special Issue

How would Miley Cyrus describe herself? "Coolest. Person. Ev-er!" she says and laughs. "Really, I think I'm chill. I am very hyper but I'm very carefree."

In PEOPLE's special Miley Cyrus issue, which hits newsstands Friday, the teen star dishes on why she thinks she rocks, what she carries in her purse, her favorite TV show and life on the Hannah Montana set.

The 15-year-old singer-actress also reveals her quirky habits, like her love for eating ketchup right out of the bottle, and her purse must-have: a first-aid kit equipped with Band-Aids, Neosporin and Benadryl – in case she gets a rash.

Cyrus – whose new album, Breakout, hits stores July 22 – proves she's just an everyday girl when she describes her beauty regimen (a tan and some mascara), her passion for shopping for handbags and her dream sweet 16 birthday present: a new car. (Her b-day is Nov. 23). She also admits to having a tomboy style that even has her mom saying, "It's not going to hurt you to be a girl for one day."

'Hannah Montana' star Miley Cyrus loves ... herself!
Daily News: Stardom seems to have gotten to Miley Cyrus' head. The "Hannah Montana" star describes herself as the "coolest person ever" in an interview with People hitting newsstands tomorrow. "Really, I think I'm chill," Cyrus added. "I am very hyper, but I'm very carefree."

The 15-year-old even went so far as to compare herself to the Queen of Pop. "Madonna always reinvents herself, and that's what I want to do," Cyrus says. "Whatever comes my way that sounds good, that's what I want to do. Whether it's designing clothes or photography or whatever."

Or posing half-nude with her dad. Cyrus caused controversy last month when she appeared in Vanity Fair with her back exposed while holding a blanket against her chest. In another shot, she rests her head on her dad's thigh.

"A lot has happened," she admited. "There have been a lot of changes, but it's all good. I've been really blessed."

On her Vanity Fair debacle: “I was embarrassed… but also it’s like, every career thing that I do can’t be perfect, and sometimes my decisions are wrong. I think that just makes me even more relatable. I don’t think people will look at me any differently because they’re like,’You know what, I’m going to do stupid stuff too, and I’m going to make mistakes, and that’s fine.’ It still hurts when I think about it.”

On her new album, Breakout: “It’s grown-up. I wrote all the songs except two. My last one, Meet Miley Cyrus, was more just meeting me, finding out who I am, and here it’s more getting in depth of what’s been going on in my life in the past year.”

On Hannah Montana: “It will wrap up, eventually. I mean, I won’t be Hannah Montana by the time I’m 30. But we’ve only done two seasons, so we definitely want to work on that hopefully for another two years.”

When it comes to boys and dating, Miley Cyrus says she is “too much” for guys to handle. The 15-year-old ‘Hannah Montana’ actress says she will never change her crazy ways and calm down for any guy. Miley, who has raised a great deal of controversy over her topless pictures with Vanity Fair said: “I’m too much to handle right now.

“I can’t be quiet and cute for boys – I have to be a bit crazy.” The actress also revealed her embarrassment when she had the opportunity to meet her crush, Jesse MaCartney.

She added to Top of the Pops magazine: “It was so embarrassing, when I first moved to Los Angeles, I had a crush on Jesse McCartney. In fact, the first song I ever wrote was about Jesse. He was on my show and I told him and he was like, ‘That’s so cute!’ ”

Although Miley has been instructed to “tone it down a bit” because of all her recent antics, she is one of the top talked about young ladies in the world.

Nick Jonas has laughed off rumours that he’s dating Miley Cyrus. The Jonas Brothers star was reported to have got together with the 15-year-old Hannah Montana star when his band supported her on tour this year.

But he insists that isn’t the case. ‘Oh, no, definitely not,’ he says. ‘We’re just friends.’ And Nick, 15 – who wears a purity ring to show that he's still a virgin - is determined to wait until he finds someone special before he commits.

‘It’s a personal decision and these rings are a constant reminded to try and live a life of values,’ he says. The Jonas Brothers’ single SOS is out now and their self-titled album is out on 23 June.

Jesse McCartney: 'David Beckham's a Stud'
Jesse McCartney thinks David Beckham is a "stud". The former Disney star, who co-wrote Leona Lewis' smash hit single Bleeding Love, was asked which male he most looked up to in the fashion world, revealing, "I like Marc Jacobs, I think that all of his stuff seems to fit me all the time.

"I love his suits and everything that he puts out there." And when asked what he thought of the LA Galaxy star's fashion sense, Jesse, 21, said, "Yeah. Beckham's a stud man." Jesse, speaking to UK gay men's magazine AXM, also revealed he'd happily play a gay character in a film.

He explained, "Yeah. You know an actor is an actor and an actor in my opinion should be able to step up and play any role, whether it's gay, straight, whatever. It's all about becoming somebody else, that's what I love about acting."

Jesse also spoke about the recent controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus' risqué photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine, insisting he doesn't know what all the fuss is about.

"I think that people are nuts," said Jesse. "I didn't find any of the photos offensive in Vanity Fair. "I thought they were artistic if anything. It sucks man. Everything about Miley was so sensationalized. I really feel for her you know."

Media blasted for Cyrus treatment
Hannah Montana co-creator Michael Poryes has slammed the press for its treatment of star Miley Cyrus.

Poryes, who serves as the executive producer on the Disney Channel show, said the 15-year-old should be left to grow up outside the media glare.
He is quoted as saying: "To say the tabloids are paying attention to her is a very kind way of saying it. It becomes like Miley Cyrus bites her fingernails is news at 11.

"They don't give her a break for being able to go through the aches and pains of being an adolescent. Everyone has the right to go through being an adolescent. They blow everything out of proportion and a little misstep becomes the biggest tragedy that ever struck mankind."

The actress recently caused outrage in the US when she posed for Vanity Fair magazine wrapped in only a blanket.

Poryes added that the show's cast and crew are trying to help her handle the controversy, saying: "The challenge of that is to do our best to make Miley feel - at least in this circle of people - that it's fine to make mistakes, you're not going to be judged or scrutinised on set."

Cyrus Escapes Injury on Set
Teen actress Miley Cyrus escaped serious injury when the set of her new "Hannah Montana" movie collapsed.

The 15-year-old was filming scenes for "The Hannah Montana Movie" in Columbia, Tenn., when high winds blew a giant piece of lighting equipment into a Ferris wheel full of people.

Cyrus had just finished filming a scene when the incident occurred.
A number of extras sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital, reports TMZ.com.

E! Online: Miley Cyrus has a new friend—and a feathered one at that.
The Hannah Montana star was seen in Los Angeles Saturday with her pet bird, Zazu, and politely told the paparazzi that "she just got done shooting a music video" and now she's "off to eat."

Later, heading out of a local restaurant, the tween sensation graciously smiled and flashed her famous peace sign, saying her dinner "was awesome."
Meanwhile, we've just learned that Zazu in Swahili means "appetizer."

Miley Cyrus’ Face Ain’t Going Anywhere
In addition to Miley Cyrus‘ face being plastered on pretty much anything the mind can imagine, she will now launch her own fragrance and clothing line.

She revealed to J-14: ‘I would love to have my own clothing line because my style is different from a lot of people. I like starting trends, but I also like to be comfortable. I like to be casual but cute and stylish at the same time.’ Miley wants her line to look similar to her favorite designer Marc Jacobs..

..It’s young and it is expensive and couture, but it’s not totally unaffordable. It’s more funky, and it looks like it just came of the runway, but it’s still casual.

Miley also plans moving away from the Hannah Montana series soon.
We’re doing the movie, and then one more season, maybe two. It’s probably going to be one more season though.

Miley Breaks Out of Her Hannah Montana Shell


E! Online:Even with her eyes closed, Miley Cyrus is staring into her future.
Gripping the biggest microphone we've ever seen, the 15-year-old appears to be demonstrating on the cover of her upcoming album, Breakout—her first solo effort to bear no trace of Hannah Montana (minus all the Disney-related promos)—that she's ready to rock, albeit demurely and in that looking-down-for-love-of-the-music way.

But whether or not tracks like "7 Things" and "Fly on the Wall" get anyone's heart pumping, it'll be more interesting to see whether that debatably inappropriate photo shoot puts a dent in Cyrus' sales.

Considering 2007's Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus has sold 3.3 million copies, and knowing that the bonds of tween fandom are stronger than oak, we're guessing...probably not.

And with that profound analysis on its side, Breakout is primed to satisfy the bubblegum-pop-loving kid in all of us July 22.

Cyrus almost quit over photo furore
Miley Cyrus came close to quitting showbusiness following the fuss surrounding her provocative Vanity Fair photos, according to her pal and 'Hannah Montana' co-star Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.

The actress, who plays Cyrus' sidekick Ashley on the hit kids TV show, admits she's had to boost her friend during recent phonecalls - because the teen sensation is so downbeat of late.

The 15-year-old was forced to apologise to fans when a shot of her wrapped in a bedsheet appeared as part of a Vanity Fair photospread, upsetting family groups and parents across America.

Perez de Tagle admits the whole controversy has been tough on her friend.
She says: "Sometimes I'll talk to her on the phone and she'll be like: 'It's really hard' or: 'I'm really tired. I can't do this.'

"I'll always say: 'You do want to do this. You love your job.' It (photo row) really hurt her. She didn't know that people would look at it like that."

Dad praises 'strong' Miley Cyrus
Singer Billy Ray Cyrus has praised daughter Miley for her strength following the recent Vanity Fair photo scandal.

The 15-year-old sparked outrage last month when she posed for the magazine wrapped in only a blanket.
Billy Ray told OK!: “I can't imagine being her age and going through what she went through. I’m amazed she kept on.”

He admitted that he was concerned that the media frenzy would be too much for Miley to handle, saying: "I know the business can eat you alive, but I’m a calloused old veteran, and she’s a young, teenage girl. It’s a heck of a storm to survive even with maturity."

The pair began filming the new Hannah Montana movie today. It is scheduled for release in 2009.

If Zootopia has always been hits radio powerhouse Z100's snapshot of where pop music stands at a given time, this year’s edition was a high school yearbook photo.

Bookended by Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, the four-hour revue was all about teen pop – either building it, as the Disney stars currently are, reliving it, as the reunited New Kids on the Block did, or graduating from it, like Jesse McCartney.

Cyrus, as her recent Vanity Fair photo flap suggested, is in the midst of a transition, just like the 15-year-old megastar’s teenage fans, and that extends to her music. Nearly half of her 30-minute set was a sneak preview of her forthcoming “Breakout” album, due out on July 22, and it showed how she was shedding the girlish pop of her “Hannah Montana” show and moving into more standard pop fare.

On “Fly on the Wall,” she pulled in some new wave influence, rocking like Blondie and using layered vocals that sounded sorta like Missing Persons. More impressive was “7 Things,” which mixed jangly pop verses with a raucous rock chorus, resulting in a weird, but entertaining hybrid of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” and No Doubt’s “Just a Girl.” And “Breakout”’s title track was revved-up power pop, like “Since U Been Gone” on a sugar high.

After hearing those songs, it gets tough to hear Cyrus go back to all the pop cliches of “G.N.O. (Girls Night Out),” but it’s a balancing act that she will have to continue since “Hannah Montana” songs are still the ones her fans know most.

Miley Cyrus Debuts New Single
Miley Cyrus is back to just being Miley. With the photoshoot uproar behind her, the Disney star debuted a new single Tuesday morning on the syndicated radio show Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo.

The angsty single, “7 Things,” chronicles a painful breakup, begging the question, is the tween sensation singing about ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas?

In the song, Miley rants, “You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure/You love me, you like her/You make me laugh you make me cry.”
“7 Things” is the first single off Miley’s new album, which drops on July 22.

Melbourne (ANI): Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus could record a duet with John Travolta, the actor's wife Kelly Preston has revealed. Preston disclosed the news at the Step Up Women's 'Network's Inspiration Awards luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, May 12. "Johnny may sing with Miley," the Daily Telegraph quoted Preston as saying.

Travolta and 15-year-old Cyrus are both voicing characters in the upcoming animated flick Bolt, and he and his wife had first met her when she was opening for Cheetah Girls during their concert tour about two years ago."We (now) know Miley very well," Preston said. She further mentioned that she has not seen the teen sensation's Vanity Fair shoot, but knows that she"s a sweetheart.

"All I know is that I know her personally and she's a really good girl with a great head on her shoulders," she added.

Playboy’s 82-year-old found Hugh Hefner wants 15-year-old “Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus to pose for his adult magazine — when she’s old enough.

“She’d be welcomed in the magazine. Very pretty lady,” Hefner told the “Extra” celebrity news show.

It’s an age-old solution for when a celebrity finds themselves in trouble with their fans — do charity work. For a while it seemed that nothing could stop the meteoric rise of fresh-faced Miley Cyrus, better known as “Hannah Montana.” Then, she made the mistake of posing topless, wrapped in a satin sheet, in a photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. Cyrus, 15, has apologized to all her fans for an error in judgment and for letting them down, and she’s now out there with her mother to help a charity for women battling breast cancer.

The Libby Ross Foundation said Miley and Trish Cyrus were among a list of celebrity mothers and daughters helping raise funds for the charity by decorating yoga bags with Swarovski jewels that will be listed on eBay for sale from May 5-15. Other celebrities duos include Susan Sarandon and daughter Eva Amurri and Hayden Panettiere and her mother Lesley Panattiere.

Miley Cyrus Thanks Fans For Their Support During Disney Games Set
In her first major public appearance since near-topless photos, which were shot for Vanity Fair, stirred considerable debate among fans, parents and celebs like Madonna and Hilary Duff, "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus appeared Saturday night at the Disney Channel Games concert, held at Orlando, Florida's Walt Disney World, and thanked her fans for their undying support.

"I hope you had an awesome time," Cyrus was quoted as saying on People.com. The Disney moneymaker skipped her way down the event's red carpet, seemingly to avoid questions about the photo scandal. "I saw a sign back there that said, 'Miley, I'm praying for you.' I could not be more appreciative. Thank you, guys, for all your support. Without you, none of this would be possible. I love every one of you, and I could not be more appreciative. God bless you."

Cyrus' set opened with "See You Again," and later on, the star previewed two tracks — "Fly on the Wall" and "Breakout" — from her forthcoming, yet-untitled album, which hits stores July 22.

Other performers that took the stage Saturday included the Jonas Brothers, the Cheetah Girls and Jordan Pruitt.

But the fans weren't the only ones backing Cyrus up. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Cyrus' "Hannah Montana" co-star Jason Earles said she's taking last week's controversy in stride. "She's one of the strongest people I've ever met," he told the paper. "She'll do everything to make sure she does right by her fans. It will be all right. I know what kind of person she is. She has a great heart."

What Cyrus has to say
In all the what-was-she-thinking debate, it seems that even Miley Cyrus has been conflicted over her assessment of the controversial Vanity Fair photos. The magazine issued a statement this week saying that Cyrus not only consulted with photographer Annie Leibovitz about the photos before they were taken, but that she was supervised the entire time she was on the set by either her parents or by other members of her publicity staff.

Cyrus initially praised the photo to Vanity Fair writer Bruce Handy, saying, "Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought it was really cool. That's what she wanted me to do, and you can't say no to Annie." Cyrus went on, "I think it's really artsy. It wasn't in a skanky way."

But the teen crooner had changed her tune by Sunday, when she released this statement: "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."

Supermodel Tyra Banks has leaped to the defence of 15-year-old under fire Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus.
The teenager has been having a hard time of late after her new photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine.

The America's Next Top Model host said: "She is a 15-year-old, and I just wish everybody would leave her alone!”

Madonna Talks About Miley Cyrus Photo Scandal: 'Leave The Poor Girl Alone!'
If there's anyone in the celeb-uverse who's well equipped to discuss the ongoing controversy over Miley Cyrus' Internet and Vanity Fair photos, it's Madonna.

So when MTV News caught up with her backstage at New York's Roseland Ballroom Wednesday night, where she and special guest Justin Timberlake had just delighted a standing-room-only crowd of superfans with a taught, hit-packed set, we decided to get her two cents on "Mileygate."

"I just want to go on record and say everyone should just leave her alone. I never represented anything wholesome in America ... I only had one way to go," she laughed. "People are just bored. Leave the poor girl alone! She's going to grow up soon, she's going to probably show her knees next — watch out!"

And Madonna can view the controversy from both sides of the spectrum. Not only has she been through what Cyrus is going through, she's also the mother of 11-year-old Lourdes, who — like seemingly every other 11-year-old girl on the planet — is a huge Hannah Montana fan. So while the entertainer clearly doesn't have a problem with Cyrus's Vanity Fair photos, does the mother?

"[Lourdes] is a fan, and I don't think she really cares [about the photo,]" Madonna said. "It's not a big deal. What is a big deal? Let's talk about something that's a big deal."

Miley Cyrus Pulls Disney Party
Miley Cyrus has pulled out of a red-carpet party at Disney World after ‘topless’ pictures of her appeared this week.

The star of Hannah Montana was due to appear for the media at a charity event called the Disney Channel Games.
Reports say Miley has been at the Florida theme park on Thursday (May 1) to meet fans and sign autographs but is leaving before the big planned event.

Vanity Fair released photos of Cyrus- taken by Annie Leibovitz- this week which showed her apparently topless.
The Hannah Montana star then apoligised to shocked fans and said she was embarrassed by the shots.

Cyrus photo causes website crash
Vanity Fair's website has crashed after hundreds of people tried to log on to see a controversial topless picture of Miley Cyrus.

The 15-year-old's photoshoot for the cover of the magazine's forthcoming issue has sparked outrage in the US.

The website logged more than four million hits yesterday as users tried to view the snap, in which the Hannah Montana star appears wrapped in only a blanket. It was forced to shut down at one stage due to the volume of internet traffic.

The scandal comes just a week after candid photographs of the teenager in her underwear were leaked online.

Jamie Lee Curtis earlier defended Cyrus, while photographer Annie Leibovitz said the shot was "misinterpreted".

Hilary Duff has commented on the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair ‘nude’ scandal, boldly stating that she would not have made the same mistake.

The former teen star, who starred in Disney’s Lizzie Mcguire, agrees that the 15-year old was probably pushed into baring all under just a blanket, but thinks her apology should be accepted.

Hilary, 20, says: “Everyone goes through things and takes their own path. Who am I to judge decisions that she made?

"People are pushing you to do something, and if you want to do it, that's your choice, you know? It's not what I would choose to do, but if she did then that's fine. That's her choice.

"And she said she is sorry - she is allowed to be sorry."

Turns out she's way rich, probably even richer than her dad Billy Ray Cyrus.
People magazine reports with her movies, concerts and a new book deal she'll be worth a projected one billion dollars by the end of the year.

Miley Cyrus to write an autobiography
Teen sensation Miley Cyrus is set to dish the details of her young yet eventful life in a new autobiography.

The 15-year-old ‘Hannah Montana’ star won’t actually be the one writing the book, though, she’ll be using a ghostwriter to put her life story on paper.

The “hush hush” deal — with Disney Books — is an attempt to try and steer Miley’s image in a different direction.
“The plan is to move her away from Hannah Montana,” an insider tells OK! magazine. “She’s outgrown it.”

Pop sensation Miley Cyrus has discovered fame comes at a high price -- she's too busy to attend her high school prom.

The "Hannah Montana" star, who co-hosted the CMT Awards with her father Billy Ray on Monday, was hoping to make it to the big dance, but has recently learned she won't be able to get there.
She says, "I am shooting my movie during prom days, so I won't be there."

But the 15-year-old singer admits she's secretly relieved -- because she doesn't have a date: "I would be like the single loner at the back of the prom. That's the worst! I am not going to do that."

How sick is Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and will she be able to make the CMT Awards in Nashville on Monday night? According to a report from Splash News Online, a celebrity photo agency, the usually very paparazzi friendly Miley Cyrus had to ignore their snappers this weekend as she’s come down with a severe case of strep throat.

The always polite and cordial Tish Cyrus (that would be Miley's mother) even apologized to the waiting crowd of photographers that were gathered to see her off on her private jet and then a doctor came in to check out the fifteen-year old starlet before her trip.

Teen singing sensation Miley Cyrus has earned a massive $18 million (GBP9 million) in one year.
The 15-year-old Hannah Montana star has earned huge amounts of cash for her roles in the TV series, movie and album deals, as well as merchandise.

Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus Warm Up for CMT Awards
Things might get a little dangerous at the CMT Awards on Monday night with Billy Ray Cyrus and powerhouse daughter Miley co-hosting.

"We did some promos a few weeks ago and they kept having Miley say all the real serious things and I'd just step in there and say, 'I wanna set something on fire!' " Cyrus tells PEOPLE. "We just went through this deal with these seatbelts and here I am doing promos for this award show, and all I say is 'I'm gonna set something on fire!' And I just said, 'Man, I'm going to get in trouble!"

Miley, meanwhile, has stayed in good graces, despite confounding her pop with her recent decision to legally change her name to Miley Ray. "I think that’s the first sign of someone flipping out!" says Cyrus, jokingly. “I tried to talk her into keeping her name as it was."

But, he says, he relented because he believes it was Miley's way of honoring her grandfather, Ronald Ray. "Miley would always end her concert show with this song called 'I Miss You' as an encore and the [video] footage they would show is my dad riding a horse with him holding her. They were very close."

Miley Cyrus Confessions: Hannah Montana Star's Girl's Night Out
Miley Cyrus is just 15 years old, but with her hit Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana (which also stars her dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus), and a new album and "The Hannah Montana Movie" in the works, the bubbly young actress and singer is already taking the world by storm.

She speaks with Life & Style Weekly and they asked the young star, "You have a song called “Girls Night Out. What’s your perfect girls’ night?" Miley answers, "Hanging with my friends. I also love eating a lot of food and watching movies. My friend and I bought 20 movies the other night. We woke up at 10 a.m. and watched them until 8 that night. We just got up every couple of hours or a coffee run."

Miley Cyrus On Her 'Idol' Chances & Performing For Simon
Miley Cyrus has faced millions of fans, as both herself and alter ego Hannah Montana, but how would the Disney starlet handle the "American Idol" performance pressure and Simon Cowell's sharp tongue?

Access Hollywood caught up with Miley at Fox's star-studded charity event, "Idol Gives Back,” where the young star opened up about what her chances would be winning the show and how the night of charity is near and dear to her life's passion of songwriting.

"Me and my dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] started working with children. Being able to help them read and learn to write is amazing because that is something that's important to me, to write songs," Miley told Access.

As part of "Idol Gives Back," Miley recently spent time in Kentucky helping kids in need.

"It was great because that is where my dad is from and that's where I've been raised most my life, so I've been around that a lot. But to be able to say, 'Hey! I'm back! And I can help this time.' I think is really cool," she said.

And would Miley audition for the singing competition if she weren't already famous?
"I probably would have, I swear," she told Access. "I think that would have been so cool!"
Though she expects Simon would be harsh, Miley is hopeful she'd fair well with the "Idol" fans.
"Hopefully I would win. [Simon is] pretty cruel. Hopefully I'd take it home," Miley added.
