| Hilary Duff to Join Cast of "Gossip Girl" | |
| The CW confirms to E! News that Hilary Duff is joining the cast of Gossip Girl for a multi-episode guest arc. As first reported by Michael Ausiello, Duff is set to play a girl named Olivia, Vanessa's (Jessica Szohr) new roommate at NYU, but that connection to V is not all that Olivia brings to the show. Find out what we've learned about Olivia's secret identity and how she gets hooked up with one of the Gossip guys... Inside sources tell us that Duff's character Olivia is a movie star who just wants to live a simple peasant girl's life at college and date a simple, nonfamous guy. Lucky for Olivia, then, that Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) wants to hook up with her and that in typical Dan fashion, he has no idea she's famous. Yep, Dan is getting serious with this new girl. | Hilary Duff to Encourage "Blessings in a Backpack" Donations During "Meijer 300 Pres By Ritz" Weekend | |
| Actress, singer-songwriter and philanthropist Hilary Duff will encourage Kentucky Speedway fans to donate new and used backpacks to the "Blessings in a Backpack" charity when she serves as grand marshal of the June 13 NASCAR Nationwide Series “Meijer 300 Presented by Ritz.” Ms. Duff is a national spokeswoman for the charity which supplements food donations for kindergarten through fifth grade students enrolled in Title 1 public schools that qualify for the Federal Free and Reduced Meal Program. Backpacks are filled with staple items children take home for weekends. Race day backpack donations will directly benefit Kentucky students and will be accepted at the Meijer display near the speedway main gate. Ms. Duff and 24 students from Gallatin Co. Schools will participate in several activities at the track including a pit-road bike relay race before she delivers the command for 43 drivers to fire their engines for the ninth NASCAR Nationwide Series event in Kentucky Speedway history. “I’m proud to partner with Meijer to benefit children by creating awareness for ‘Blessings in a Backpack’ during one of Kentucky’s premier sports events. I’m thankful for companies such as Meijer that team with teachers and parents to help make ‘Blessings in a Backpack’ work. They are the true heroes. Students represent our future and we need to do all we can to encourage them to continue working hard in the classroom each and every day,” Duff said. Duff gained early fame for playing the title role in the Disney television series “Lizzie McGuire” and went on to enjoy a successful film career by starring in feature films such as “Cheaper by the Dozen,” “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” and “A Cinderella Story.” Her pop music collections “Dignity,” “Metamorphosis,” “Hilary Duff” and “Most Wanted” earned her three Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) platinum certifications when they combined to sell more than 13 million copies worldwide. | Hilary Duff has come a long way from her Disney princess days. Not only is the former child star gearing up to play the lead in a remake of the classic outlaw flick Bonnie and Clyde, she’s also getting ready to release the downtown cool clothing line that we told you about back in February. And at an AIDS charity event this week, Hilary chatted about her new ventures, including her collection with DKNY. The actress admits to Nylon Online that Femme for DKNY is “kind of a selfish line, because it’s skinny jeans, which look the best on me.” She also included fun personal touches like multiple-size belt loops. “Sometimes I want to wear a skinny little belt wrapped around a million times, or sometimes I want to wear a really fat one that won’t ever stay in place, slung low. So it just has a lot of options,” she explains. And while Hilary was sure to include her style favorites, her design wheels started spinning with inspiration from “normal girls.” “I’ll be walking down the street and think, oh she looks cute!” Hilary says. “Especially being in New York because everyone has such unique styles. | So I saw these pictures yesterday while looking around our gallery and really got inspired to do a layout, and here you have it! I was pretty tired of the other one since it was too dark and since summer is coming I wanted it to be sunny and fresh, that's why I used these colors this time. I've been receiving a lot of e-mails about me doing layouts to people. It depends on the celebrity and the picture you send me, and of course of the time I have. I code in a weird way in HTML. | Mother’s Day is only two weeks away (May 10) and Hilary exclusively told me her plans! “My mom’s birthday is two days after Mother’s Day and it’s not a surprise, so I can tell you,” the 21-year-old told JustJared.com at last week’s Tribeca Film Festival party. “We’re going to Napa! We’ve never been and I’m 21 now, so we get to do wine tasting and other fun things like that. I don’t know if it’ll be exactly on her birthday because of schedules, but we’ll do a trip like that. When asked if her mom feels gypped that she gets two celebrations lumped together, Hilary told me, “Yeah, but she’s a mom. The "Stay Cool" actress struggles with technology and enlists the help of hockey player Mike Comrie when surfing the web. She said: "I'm really slow. You should see me on the internet. I'm really bad on the internet. If I have to find something or look something up, Mike has to be, 'I'll show you!'" However, Hilary says she is ready to join the latest social networking craze, website Twitter. She said: "I didn't start Twittering yet but my assistant set up an account for me." While Mike offers Hilary technical support, the 21-year-old blonde star recently revealed she stands up for him if he gets abuse when playing for the New York Islanders. She said: "I like to sit in the audience, I don't sit up in a box or anything, and people started to know that I'm sitting there, and they'll be like 'Mike sucks!' | Hilary Duff continues filming Provinces of Night in Wilmington, North Carolina on Thursday (April 16). The 21-year-old singer and actress will be playing a pregnant women based on a novel by William Gay. The movie, set in 1952, follows the story of E.F. Bloodworth, a man who returns home after 20 years of roaming to find a faded wife and three bitter sons. The old man finds his only warm welcome from his grandson, Fleming, who rejects the bitterness after learning about love through a beautiful woman, Raven Lee. The movie is directed by Shane Taylor and also stars Toby Keith, Pell James and Bruce McGill.

| Hilary Duff Lands Role On 'Law & Order: SVU' | |
| Hilary Duff just landed herself a role on "Law & Order: SVU," reports E! News. The role is the latest TV guest spot for Duff. She recently filmed a cameo for the Jennifer Love Hewitt drama "Ghost Whisperer." No word yet on what sort of character Duff will be playing on "L&O," but her role on "Ghost Whisperer" was described as "mysterious." The roles come just months after it was announced that Duff will be returning to TV full-time in her new comedy, "Barely Legal." The show stems from Duff's production deal with NBC and is based on the true story of Kathleen Holtz, who passed the California bar exam in 2007 at age 18 to become the state's youngest lawyer. the 21-year-old told MTV News about the deal. "I think I would like to do something funny, so probably a comedy. "I would like to do something funny ... or I would like to kick ass or something," she continued. "[I'd want to] be some kind of ... not a superhero, but some young person that's empowering and that does something no one expects from her, like take care of problems." |
